INSIDE LAS VEGAS
The photographs were all taken and modified in December
2010. They are now something else, and are experimental. The end
result, of course, are prints on canvas which
do not look as highly saturated as some of the images below. They are the
product of just one months work and hopefully the work will change, grow, and
improve.
"Inside Las Vegas" is really a misnomer. Nearly all of
the digital abstract photographs shown here were taken inside the casinos on the
'strip'. You probably do not know, but the 'strip' is outside of the city
limits. How about that? Las Vegas, including the strip is a fun place to visit, maybe too
much fun sometimes, as it is easy to make poor judgments if you are not careful.
Do a little research on what else there is to do, in and around Las Vegas, and
maybe your trip can include fun and interesting days even without gambling.
If possible save all of your gambling for your last day. You don't want to go
broke on the first day, do you? If you visit alone, it can also be a sad
and lonely place, even though you are surrounded by thousands of people, as some
of these images are intended to convey. Hardly any people are shown in the
images below which is totally unreal for the strip. Creating work that has
content (i.e. makes a statement) is something I never do, or at least rarely do.
This series, as well as some of the individual pieces, deliberately do have
content, even if it is probably not up to the standards of the 'educated elite mindset'.
I mean a few of these even violate their primary tenant, namely, "Art Does Not
Have To Be Beautiful". At least I hope that they are not all ugly. ;-)
Cheers.
