MODIFIED PHOTOS INTO DIGITAL PAINTINGS
For lack of a better term, I call the images in this sections
"Digital Paintings". All of the images started out as photographs
taken by the
world traveler,
Galen R. Frysinger. For the last half century or so, he has traveled all
over the world, taking photographs. I had not even heard of a lot of the
countries that he has visited. His photographs can be seen on his website,
http://www.galenfrysinger.com/ .
He has graciously given me permission to use his photographs and I really
appreciate it. I highly recommend visiting his site. I have, until now,
only used my own photographs as a starting point.
A lot of digital artists start by either bringing initial
images into the computer, or creating basic images using the computer alone
(like fractals, for example). The common term for these initial images is
"Seed Images". These Seed Images are then used as the starting place for
creating "Digital Paintings". That is what I have done using Galen R.
Frysinger's photographs. Using all the techniques that I know how to use,
I try to create a "feeling" for the place portrayed, such as the time of day,
the temperature, etc., (the mood, if you will). You should notice
that different hues, values, and intensities, are employed in each painting, in
an effort to achieve what I want to portray. For example, I can even hear
the sounds of New York in my mind, just by looking at the New York scene with
the fire truck. I also can hear music just by looking at a
Kandinsky painting. I'm weird, so sue me.
Please enjoy your visit.
